This is a really cool old Revolver.
Smith & Wesson, .22/32 Heavy Frame Target (Bekeart Model), .22 Long Rifle, 6" Barrel, Approx Production Date 1924
This is commonly refereed to as a Bekeart model, but it is most likely not one of the revolvers shipped to Bekeart Gun Shop of San Francisco, who's order for 1,050 of these revolvers inspired S&W to manufacturer this style firearm. There is a possibility this is a 4th Class Bekeart, but that can only be confirmed by getting a S&W factory letter.
- Class 1 - Guns originally shipped to Bekeart (296 Units)
- Class 2 - Remainder of the 1050 guns not shipped to Bekeart (756 Units)
- Class 3 - Guns 1051 to 3000 (1956 Units)
- Class 4 - Any subsequent gun shipped to Bekeart, after the original 3000 guns
Exact production date cannot be confirmed but a ship date can be, if you obtain a letter from the S&W factory letter. In researching this revolver it was most likely shipped in 1924 or possibly 1925. S&W started marking their guns 'Made in USA' after 1923 (so it is not a 1923) and it has the newer style partridge style front sight and side plate mounted hammer block which were introduced in 1924.
Best I can tell this revolver is all original with original finish. Grips appear to be original and have the penciled serial number on the inner grip.
Condition is subjective, so look at all images closely and please ask any questions prior to ordering.
